Dr. Robert Gotlin is the Director of Orthopaedic
and Sports Rehabilitation in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery
and the Coordinator of the Musculoskeletal and Sports Rehabilitation
Fellowship training program in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery
at Beth Israel Medical Center. |
He is an assistant professor of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation
at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine of Yeshiva University.
His medical degree is from the Southeastern University of the Health Sciences
in Miami, Florida in 1987. After graduation, he entered medical internship
at Brookdale Hospital Medical in Brooklyn, New York. After internship,
he entered residency training in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation
at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine at Mount Sinai Medical Center, New
York, New York (1988 – 1991). In 1991, he served as chief resident
for Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.
After residency, he joined Beth Israel Medical Center and spearheaded
the development of the North Division's Department of Physical Medicine
and Rehabilitation, in particular, the orthopaedic, sports and spine section.
As a member of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery he continues to develop
musculoskeletal and sports rehabilitation paradigms.
Frequently, he appears in the media on radio, television and in print.
He host's The Dr. Rob Says…Sports Health and Fitness Show which
airs live every Saturday from 7-8 AM on 1050 ESPN Radio. The show reviews
a myriad of health related topics along with offering expertise on sports
and fitness related issues. In particular, controversial topics related
to youth sports and youth development are detailed with point-counterpoint
discussions among listeners and select experts. He is a Guest host for
television's ABC Now, Healthy Living, a daily television program that
features breaking medical news and practical health advice.
He is board certified by both the American Board of Physical Medicine
and Rehabilitation and the American Osteopathic Board of Physical Medicine
and Rehabilitation.
As a consultant to various health related establishments he has served
on the medical team with W. Norman Scott, M.D., team physician for the
New York Knickerbockers (NBA Basketball) and New York Liberty (WNBA Basketball)
and is physiatric consultant to Michael Kelly, M.D., team physician for
the New Jersey Nets (NBA Basketball) and to Stuart Hershon, M.D., team
physician for the New York Yankees (MLB Baseball).

The longest-tenured trainer
in franchise history, Mike Saunders marks his 27th campaign on the
Knickerbockers bench in 2004-05. He joined the Knicks on July 24,
1978, succeeding the legendary Danny Whelan, who put in 11 seasons
and tended to both Knicks championship teams. Recognized as one of
the NBA's senior and most-respected trainers and currently second
among NBA head trainers in a continuous service to one club. |
In addition to his duties as head athletic trainer, he also coordinated
the Knicks' demanding travel schedule and oversaw the daily operation of
the new MSG Training Center in Tarrytown and its state-of-the-art athletic
training and physical therapy center.
Mike is also a registered Physical Therapist, Certified Athletic Trainer
and a member of the American Physical Therapy Association, the National
Athletic Trainers Association and the American College of Sports Medicine.
Over the years he had served as consultant to the Sports Medicine Department
at Beth Israel Hospital North Division.
Saunders, a Big Apple native, a product of the New York City Public School
system and a graduate of Newtown HS in Queens received his undergraduate
degree in physical education at CCNY, and then completed his education
at New York University's School of Physical Therapy.
Mike now owns and runs SAUNDERS Physical Therapy & Sports Performance
center located in Pomona, NY. The home where he and his wife, Susan and
children, Ashley and Jeffery, currently reside.

Ken Andes, L.Ac., has spent the majority
of his life studying Oriental medicine and natural healing. Beginning
at age 13, he spent 8 years studying martial arts, qigong, and kiatsu
(a Japanese form of acupressure and energy medicine) with his first
teacher.Since then he has studied with many traditional healers from
India, Tanzania, China, and The Philippines. |
After graduating from Rutgers University with degrees in social work
and theology, he began studying acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine
at Pacific College of Oriental Medicine in New York City. He has been
fortunate to directly apprentice under several leading masters of acupuncture
and Chinese medicine. These include Dr. Guidun Bai and Master He Binhui,
both of whom Ken still studies with to this day.
In addition to his full-time practice in Suffern, NY, Ken conducts research
in alternative medicine through UMDNJ (University of Medicine and Dentistry
of New Jersey), teaches graduate level courses in acupuncture and medical
qigong, and publishes instructional articles and videos on the practice
of medical qigong.
Ken is currently participating in research involving the treatment of
cocaine addiction with medical qigong. The study, the first of its kind
in the United States, is being funded by the National Institute of Health
and Ken is serving as the principal healer in the study.
